Colorado (CO) Secretary of State (SOS) LLC & Business Search

The Colorado Secretary of State provides a business search database which enables users to search for businesses, name availability, business survey information and trademarks. Their business entity searches allow you to find key information about businesses. They provide two search facilities which are a basic search and an advanced search which allows you to search by:

• Business name, trademark or trade name
• ID or document number
• Registered agent
• Reserved name holder
• Trade name or trademark registrant

Search by business name

The basic search for business names allows you to search for names that contain the words that you are searching for and will search for business names, trademarks and trade names.

An advanced business search will allow you to refine your search further to one or more types – business name, trade name and trademark, and you can select exact matches only. You can also choose to restrict your search to filing dates between a set date range.

The search results will include a list of all business names that match your search perimeters and will include ID number, document number, name, event, status, form and formation date.

You can find out more details about any of the businesses in the list by clicking on the ID number highlighted in blue. The business details displayed include:

• Business name
• Status
• ID number
• Formation date
• Form type
• Jurisdiction
• Periodic report month
• Principal address
• Mailing address
• Registered agent details
• Filing history and documents
• Copies of certificates

You can also conduct a basic search using the ID number for the business to find it in the Colorado Secretary of State business search database.

The results should open up the record for that business where you can view a range of key information such as status, formation date, addresses, agent details and more as detailed above in the search by business name.

Search by agent or registrant

On the advanced search form, you can also search by registered agent, reserved name holder, trade name registrant or trademark registrant where you can enter name details such as last name, first name, middle initial and suffix. You can enter as little or as many details as you want to narrow down your search and select which type of person you are searching for.

The search results will list all the people with the name you searched for that are involved in businesses that match your search criteria with the list displaying the person’s name, address, type and count.

The records can be viewed by clicking on the name highlighted in blue. The business information displayed includes status, formation date, addresses, agent details and more as detailed above in the search by business name.
